Treasure Trove
I've always loved this little shop in Castle Street. I discovered it when Kathryn was little. It's gained a more PC name than in those days as it used to be called the The Royal Edinburgh Repository & Self Aid Society. I'm pretty sure the phrase Distressed Gentlewoman used to appear somewhere too.
Basically the shop is full of beautiful knitting, sewing and other craft work, jam biscuits etc too. It's a lovely place for baby presents if you're not a knitter. When I passed the shop today it had a wonderful Christmas display in its window. I stopped and bought some hand cut wooden Christmas trees. All items are hand made and then sold in the shop to help people have some additional income.
I was in town for another consultation re implants. I still haven't any firm decision on how many extractions and how many implants, it's all rather stressful and expensive.
Colin came back from his mum's tonight and I think is looking forward to a good night's sleep.
Scottish teachers were on strike today, how sad that we are back in this situation. I was teaching during the 70s and 80s and I never wished for my daughter to be in the same position. I started teaching just after the Houghton report in 1975 increased salaries by 27% on average, then came the awful period in 1984 under Mrs Thatcher. It shouldn't be necessary to resort to such measures.
