Midi Night

Tonight we were up the toon toon at The Biscuit Factory for one of my birthday presents to see Redolent. We had seen them supporting Efterklang in August and are an up-and-coming band from Edinburgh we were previously unfamiliar with. Two other local artists were supporting, Misty Galactic (top left), Nani Music (right) with Redolent bottom left. 

I don't remember such an intimate gig with everyone standing around the "cube". This time we were obviously familiar with Redolent's tunes, but the other 2 we were not. 

Nani has recently completed a masters degree in music design at Edinburgh Uni with her disertation being on mixing her music using virtual reality, and used that on her last tune, hence wearing the VR headset. While we couldn't see what she was seeing, she was clearly reaching out to slide virtual sliders changing volumes of different tracks (like a virtual mixing desk). While I doubt everybody's going to be doing that, it was fascinating to watch, and you know what, we loved the music too.

We enjoyed it all, great to see these artists finding new audiences, like us and hope to see them again.
