Brightening up a dull day……

……..yesterday.
Another of the people who work at the Garden Centre. He was clearing tables yesterday afternoon.
I asked him about his hair colours, thinking it is was sport related, but he said he just wanted to brighten up people’s days, as there is so much that doesn’t feel bright right now.
The tee-shirt depicts a turkey with attitude! Quite appropriate on a day, (yesterday) when the Americans celebrated Thanksgiving!
Yesterday afternoon as I drove there it was absolutely torrential rain once more. Thundering on to the roof of the car and pouring down the roads.
My dear hubby had gone on the train to meet a friend in Birmingham for lunch and a catch up.
He realised he had (yet again!) left his umbrella, (one of many!) on the train as he got off.
All was fine till later when he was returning to the station and had no option but to brave the monsoon. I did point out to him that M&S where he and his friend had lunched, sold umbrellas. Reply, “I didn’t think of that”.
So he got to the station like the proverbial drowned rat and bought one in WHSmith’s instead on the concourse.
When I got home from seeing Bobbie, even his wallet was sitting on the radiator, which wasn’t on anyway, as we don’t have the radiators on now in the afternoon and evenings, using thermal vests and layers of clothes. If it is very cold we just turn on the gas fire for a bit in the front lounge.
I did the washing last night, as the forecast was for a clear sunny day today.
Sure enough it has dawned bright and beautiful, so I hung it all out before breakfast.
Another lot to go in.
I’ve never lived in all my (almost 75th) years, in a time when we had a Public Information film from the Government telling us not to have baths, but showers, turn boilers down, turn radiators off in unused rooms and generally do without much heating.
The trouble is how do people keep warm? The sales of wood burners rocketed, the same with going back to open fires. Does that help climate change I muse.
There is a view that banning short haul internal flights will help the railways get back on track! The mind boggles.
Our railway system is a joke, and the service is creaking, when it isn’t on strike.
And what about all those dignitaries who flew to Cop27!
When we had lockdown, the skies were beautiful, and free of airline contrails.
