Flora Day

My friend Ruth is staying for a few days so B and I took her to Flora Day in Helston. This is an ancient annual event celebrating the end of winter and the arrival of new vitality and fertility with the trees and flowers bursting into life. The streets are decorated with flowers and the townspeople dance through the streets in and out some of the houses to the tune of the Flora Day song played by silver bands. The big bass drum strikes the first beat of the dance at 7 in the morning and the last dance of the day is at 6 p.m.

Feeling better but still coughing. There seems to be a lot of it around.
