Damp visit

After Pilates we decided to have lunch out courtesy of our son Matthew and wife Mary who gifted us a voucher. A delightful lunch followed by a rather damp visit to Helmsley castle.

This is the main tower which was partially blown up in the civil war. Those guarding the castle had run out of supplies and managed to negotiate a surrender being allowed to leave with their weapons and belongings. A number of whom changed sides and went on to attack Scarborough castle!
