Erinnern

Today is Victory in Europe day and heute auf dem Berg there was a ceremony in honour of all those refugees from eastern Europe who were pushed into Deutschland by the Russian advancement and found themselves caught between two horrors.

Today was also a holiday (Feiertag) in Germany; Christi Himmelfahrt (Ascension Day) which in known in our house as "The day Jesus went to Skye".
Being some kind of Pagen, I asked Herr L last year why we had a holiday and he told me that it was because today was "the day Jesus went to Skye". A simple grammatical mistake and he ended up changing the Bible story and sending Jesus for eternity to the wonderful island of Skye on the West coast of Scotland.

I think Skye would be a wonderful place to spend eternity.
