Pegs, Part 1 of series Grips and Clips.
The bottom one is bound with a thin strip of copper which is tightly inserted into the wood at each end, it makes the peg "springy". I am convinced it was made by a Romany Gypsy along with the one it is gripping, which is made from a finely worked thick twig.
The two very thick ones look hand made to me. The one on top is a standard wooden peg. They came from my aunt's peg basket a few years back, they still work.
We still tend to use the crappy plastic ones even though they break from time to time; which is silly 'cos it's Silly Saturday.
