Tipping point ...
In Emsworth today, the young, the old and entire families turned out in the streets, encircled the roundabouts and stood along the main roads to protest the ongoing discharge of untreated sewage into our harbours and beaches along some of the most beautiful areas of the southern coast. People's health is severely compromised and wild life sanctuaries and saltmarshes with overwintering birds are endangered.
People feel they have reached a tipping point, are getting well organised and mobilising for change. The trigger has been years of in-action by the authorities, combined with the prolonged and heavy rains we have been having with sewage overflowing and being discharged directly into the harbour, totally unchecked.
The extras show people of all ages with hand made placards, taking up position on the roads, enjoying the waves and hoots of encouragement of passing vehicles.
