£12.50 a day from August 2023 in the expanded ULEZ

This week the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan announced that the ULEZ , Ultra low emission zone,  in London is being expanded to include all the London Boroughs. At the moment it is a smaller area inside the north and south circular roads, not according to Borough boundaries. 
You will not have to pay the charge if you have a petrol car younger than 2006 or a diesel car newer than 2016. Fortunately both our cars are OK although it’s more by luck than anything planned. However as I walked our dog this evening I had a quick look at cars parked outside nearby houses. The blip is of a car that would be charged and there were another nine within a couple of hundred yards. I know the owners of some of the older cars and in some cases they are elderly and do not use their cars much except locally, I don’t think they would want to buy a newer car.

If your car is not exempt Apparently you can park your car in the zone without charge, but not drive it? I don’t really know how this will be implemented if some days you are parked and others you drive around?

A busy day…our friend returned Libby and we had a quick look at the Church Christmas Bazaar , the church hall was packed. I did buy some good secondhand toys and raffle tickets. 

We had the family for lunch and the children were keen to show us some of their routine for their gymnastics show next weekend; the music they will perform to is “I’m a Believer” by the Monkees!
