Advent Sunday

The first candle in the Advent Crown has been lit. According to our church it is the candle for the Patriarchs but interpretations vary.
Consequently we sang some lovely Advents hymns.

In the background you can see the Christmas tree that B and I put up on Friday afternoon. It took us 2 hours.

I do like to get a few Advent decorations out at this time and keep them where they are easily accessible rather than in the loft with the other things. Non of them worked this morning! The star I put in the bedroom window and the Advent candles in the living room window are now both working, one needed the bulb tightening and one new batteries, but the snowman candle is missing from the Advent crown! Who knows where he’s gone! Maybe he will turn up when we get the tree and other things down next week before the family come.

Apparently this is the earliest Advent Sunday can be and therefore Advent will be longer than usual. Also it is the first day of the churches new year. Happy New Year!
