Wait over...
I spent some time here this morning with a very nice consultant. I found a bit of a lump a few weeks ago, and got around to seeing the doctor on Tuesday evening. She said she'd refer me, and the hospital were in touch on Wednesday lunchtime to see if I wanted an appointment this morning.
So, off I tootled. Wasn't sure where the hospital was, or how long it'd take to get there, so I set off at the same time I'd usually leave for work. Bit of a blunder - it meant I arrived at the hospital at 7.15 for a 9.00 appointment! Bright side, I got a good parking space and sat outside in the sunshine reading my book for a while.
Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to distract me and, by the time I got to see Mr F, I could barely speak I was so scared. I need to wait for an appointment for an ultrasound, but he seemed to think it's nothing to worry about. Bless him, he was so unflustered when I burst into tears!
We seem in this country to spend so much time slating the NHS, and I'm sure some people do have bad experiences. But I have nothing but praise - a little over 36 hours to set my mind at rest by kind and helpful people who didn't dismiss my concerns. Marvellous.
