Remembering
Another reasonable nights sleep :) dog walk was in pleasant and unseasonably warm and timed to meet with retired RAF mascot and his handler. Today was the anniversary of the crash of Lancaster ED393 VN-K while trying to find a landing in poor weather. Originally due to return from Germany to Skellingthorpe they were diverted to Melbourne but it runway was blocked by damaged aircraft they were further diverted to Pocklington. Having failed at first attempt and try gain hight for a go around it stuck trees then Red House Farms chimney before taking out the roof of Ings House beside the canal.
Pictured above is the memorial and "Fat Dog Sam" as he is known on Facebook, he was sadly not in uniform today but was proudly wearing a Poppy on his collar. A close up of my little friend in extras.
At home managed an hour raking leaves before setting on with a roast beef dinner. I will trying catch up with your journals this evening.
Take care one and all.
