Putting the camper to bed
A few days ago it was supposed to snow a little and then warm up, bringing rain, and melting the snow. Fairly common November weather we thought. When the snow melts we'll take a last trip for this year with the camper van.
However, it didn't happen. The snow fell, the expected rain also fell as snow, and the warmer weather stayed away so hardly any melting happened. Then we had more snow!
So today we gave up. I scraped the snow off the roof of the van, laid polystyrene blocks across the roof and added the breathable waterproof "lid". It was quite hard work and I had to be a bit careful because you wouldn't want to slip when you are 2,65 meters up in the air!
The day had started in town, after sleeping at Rose's after our home language group dinner yesterday evening. As usual I was the last one up! Claire was out walking Rusty, and Jan and Rose were drinking coffee in the kitchen when I appeared. We all had a delicious breakfast followed by a very relaxed morning. Then Claire set off for the 5 hour drive home and we headed home to sort of the camper. Rose suggested she would perhaps go back to bed!
The extra shows the curtain of snow hanging above the approach to our front door. We don't hang around as we pass under that lot.
