D´s confirmation day
I am back blipping this now....I actually had written the entry on the proper evening but for some reason it didn´t publish and I lost what I had written.....and havent felt like doing it again :-)
BUT this was a big day and it needs to be blipped :-) Confirmation is a very big deal here in Norway. D had a non religious confirmation....a sort of coming of age ceremony and then we had a big party for him. We were 32 people, formal, sit down dinner, speeches and the whole bit. This isnt how I normally would put on a party - I prefer casual, easy going...and this formal party made me very nervous BUT it really turned out well. It really is a bit like a wedding and probably the most important day for teens in Norway, until they do get married. D had a great day - it was fun to see how it all seemed to lift him up a bit - being surrounded by so many people who love him and who had so many good things to say about him. I think it made him feel loved and it also seems to have inspired him....it was actually quite an emotional day. I felt so very proud of D, of the person he is....He is wonderful :-) I also felt very fortunate to have such very good friends who were there for both D and myself....very lucky :-)
The next day I was completely exhausted....but also very happy with how it all turned out. Congratulations D ....love you much :-)
