Nicky and her Nikon

Sunny reflections at Black Pond

We had a gloriously sunny morning, and the way the light caught the autumn colours here was so beautiful I had to photograph it. I took Xena for a long walk today - feeling guilty about watching TV yesterday afternoon, I decided we needed a long walk so after my morning run (on the treadmill) we then had a 2 hour walk, enjoying the autumn colours everywhere. The colours seem to be staying much longer than usual, maybe because we have had a much warmer November than usual. I have added an extra of Xena with the golden leaves.

I did some grocery shopping - with Gavin away this week not much was needed - then came home and made lunch and also cooked supper as I need to leave home early tonight to get to camera club.

Tonight is our last in person camera club meeting of the year, and it's a print competition. Next week we have an zoom talk by a pro photographer and then we don't meet again until after the new year.

It has been another day of bad news. The insurance company say they cannot pay out for the repairs to the faulty bath fitting that caused the leak, as it is a maintenance issue - how is it maintenance when it is a leak caused by a bath upstairs that has never been used since the house was built 6 years ago - but they will pay for the damage to the walls and ceilings.

The lighting engineer came late this afternoon and there are three dimmer circuits that have failed, which is highly unusual, this usually only happens if there has been a strong power surge - which there wasn't. The bad news is they need to be replaced and there is a 20 week wait for the new circuit boards. They come from the US, so the excuse is Covid - but most chips and circuits are made in Russia and Ukraine so the war has also screwed the supply of them. Apparently BMW bought something silly like 30,000 Zanussi washing machines as the circuits in the washing machines are the same as those used in the ignition circuit of their cars, and this way they are able to keep making their cars! Between Covid, Brexit and the Russian/Ukraine war supply chains are not what they used to be.

Tomorrow I have a day out in London - it's been months since I last did that!
