Waterside
The Tavistock Canal in West Devon takes it's water from the River Tavy. It flows gently down through the woods to Mowellham Quay on the banks of the River Tamar. Although the beech trees which line the canal were full of colour, it was the detail that I was really looking at. It was fascinating to watch the fallen leaves drifting by, and the way that the slow moving water distorts the reflections of the trees. This shot shows a section of the canal bank with a gently- curving frond of bracken reaching down to the water. I always feel a strong connection with this lovely place. It seems to slowly reveal it’s hidden beauty and it’s connection with the past.
