Cake on the beach

S helped me wash up, a joy filled half an hour for her, then we made a banana loaf with chocolate and cardamom. She normally makes it very clear the only reason she’s helping is to get the spoon to lick at the end, but today she was keen to mash the bananas, crack the eggs and stir the mixture. I packed some hot drinks and we went down on the bike to our wee beach. It was quite muddy and slippy riding across the field to get there. We weren’t there long when the rain clouds started blowing in so we rode home but got absolutely soaked. We spent the rest of the afternoon underneath the electric blanket watching Lady and the Tramp.
