From Now On...

Standing guard…

… over the poinsettia!

I’d love to have a photo to share of the five ex Croham Hurst group that met this morning but it didn’t feel right to take a photo today. One of us is now in a wheelchair after a stroke, a hip replacement following a later fall, a gall bladder operation and nine months in hospital. But she got there today and I’ve been thrilled all day thinking about it. Her wonderful daughter brought her. I’m so pleased I followed up a general email to the group with a personal letter to her. She’s making progress but has a long way to go, still unable to walk. Her husband is also having to use a wheelchair now. Both were in the same hospital at the same time and for two months during the pandemic, couldn’t see each other.

So, from only having a positive response from one in the group, there were five of us. One I hadn’t seen for fourteen years. A reminder to ask for notifications of changes of addresses and email addresses. Today made the job of arranging the meet so worthwhile and we will keep the tradition going. We could have stayed chatting all day. We were a great team of happy colleagues over several years.

We missed those who couldn’t join us and this evening I’ve sent another email sharing today with them. I know others here appreciate wonderful colleagues. They give us much to be grateful for.
