Playa Levante
Benidorm has shocked us today and provided a huge lesson in ‘don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it’.
It’s lovely!
We woke to a glorious day, so set off after breakfast to walk down the promenade of Levante Beach to the Old Town.
There were more people out and about today, which was a relief and we both commented that (as daft as it sounds when we are in Spain) there were a lot of Spanish people.
What we expected was a tackier version of Blackpool; typical ‘brits abroad’ getting wasted on cheap beer.
What we found was a very clean, chilled out vibe of a town with some lovely little shops down the side streets.
Sure, there were pockets of tops off, day drinking lads and the usual leathery looking oldies down on the beach, but we have been pleasantly surprised so far.
I don’t think I’d want to come here in the height of summer, but for a winter break, it’s perfect :-)
