Badger and fox skulls
We spent the best part of the day helping Katkatkat by taking her to collect large bulky things, which not being a car owner she would have found difficult/expensive.
The highlight of the day was being taken to the Water of Leith Visitor centre for a talk about Otters particularly those seen on the Leith. Ross Lawford has watched and studied Otters up and down the country for many years. Now based in Edinburgh he has been watching the Leith Otters for three years. He was able to give us interesting details about the various females and how many kittens each had produced this year.
As the talk took place in the Education room of the centre there were various things round the room used for visual aids in their work, particularly with children. The blip shows a Badger skull and behind that a Fox skull. The size of the Sagittal crest in the Badger is significant, as the crest is where the biting muscles are anchored. The bigger the crest the stronger the muscles for biting.
