American Kitsch--Motel Style

I know this is an abrupt shift from the birds of the last few days.But after yesterday's presentation of my Galapagos images to the Paskamansett Bird Club in Westport Mass., we stayed for the night at a Holiday Inn in Swansea Mass.

This is part of the ceiling decoration of the lobby and atrium that rises for the building's three floors, taken from the third floor overlooking the atrium. Viewed large don't miss the ceiling's water sprinkler to the left of the putti and the smoke alarm to the right.

The outside of the motel is twice as large as necessary, and one cannot park within two minutes walk to the front door--altogether a grandiosely misplaced design.
