London
Another exciting day, up and caught a taxi to the station at Weymouth, hop on a train, and arrive in London 3 hours later. We had left in rain, but it had stopped in London, and just a bit grey. We got off at Waterloo Station, and a short walk and we were on The Eye. People everywhere, and of course we had to queue. Great views from up in the air, and it is a great piece of machinery. From up in the air we could see a parade of the Queens horses on their way to Parliament. The Queen was opening Parliament. I understand that Prince Charles sat with her, as her aide de camp.
We walked over the bridge, and viewed Parliament buildings, Westminster Abbey and St Margaret's Church etc. I love all the bronze statues around London, but I have just picked out one which you will recognise. Winston Churchill, with Big Ben in the background.
Love the colours and design on the London Taxis.
Did you know that when Queen Victorias husband, Prince Albert died, she had all the Taxis painted black, and all the railings in the city were painted black in memory of her husband. She mourned and did not go out in the public eye for 8 years.
We had some lunch at Weatherspoons, and if you look closely you will see Terry, Trish and Alice entering the premises. You also can see we were carrying our packs, as we were staying overnight in London.
More walking and viewing, and then we met up with Tom, Jenny and Francesca, relations of Alice, for tea at a Thai restaurant, before going to the Musical 'The Bodyguard'.
It was at the Adelphi Theatre, and was just awesome. All we expected. The main roles were played by Heather Headley who, played Rachel Marron, and Frank Farmer was played by Lloyd Owen. He used to play in the TV series, Monarch of the Glen as the Gamekeeper.
We had to have a drink in a bar afterwards, to discuss the musical, and dwell on it for a bit longer.
Hopped on another taxi, and off to an apartment, 19 floors up in a new building that was 40 stories high. It was at Elephant Castle. Thanks for allowing us to stay there, Trish's friend. Perfect finish to a great day.
