Countryside near Otham in Kent

Went for a lovely walk today of over 6.5 miles in the countryside around Bearsted. Only get out here in the summer months.

This shot of an increasingly rare rural environment - mature trees, pasture and horses. It's here because of a small livery yard is nearby. The light and the fresh green make it a nice scene.

Today has also been a rhubarb day. Picked about 5kg from the allotment, where it gowns in wild abundance and am in the process of making rhubarb and vanilla jam and also rhubarb cordial. Froze some as well and stewed some to have with yoghurt. Seen enough rhubarb for the time being.

Found a recipe for rhubarb champage, so going to have a go at that. looking forward to the elderflowers coming out -that makes wonderful champagne.
