Shooting Hoops on the Square

Trafalgar Square has become a fanzone for three days as a 'huge' basketball event comes to the capital.

Boris Johnson said: "This is about celebrating the Euroleague, which is coming to London. It's a huge basketball event. Trafalgar Square is going to be a fanzone for three days.

"It's also about the future of that huge venue - the Copper Box in the Olympic Park. The London Lions - a big basketball club - are moving in there, and it's a way of expanding basketball in London, which is an increasingly popular sport."

He launched a programme of free activities ahead of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four basketball tournament which will be held next month at the O2.
