A Fahrenheit Life

Istanbul

I arrived in Istanbul last night - having negotiated the Metro and tram systems all by my grown-up self - to spend a day and a bit sightseeing before flying to Ankara tomorrow for a bit more of a work-focused study week.

This was taken on the Galata Bridge, which links Karaköy to Eminönü, with the New Mosque seen in the background. All the fishermen - and there were many of them - were successfully filling their buckets with good catches, although I've no idea what kind of fish they were.

Wandered about for hours - often in circles - but managed to get to see the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Mosque, Topkapi Palace before meandering back to the hotel via the lovely Gülhane Park.

An overcast but humid day.
