Spot the birdy

The perfectly camouflaged bittern just waiting for some sight of a fish or amphibian in the recently cut reeds...

That little dark patch above the bird's head, like a raised eyebrow (you may need to look in large to see it), was a displaced feather that (I think) the bird was about to lose.  But it does look like a comic eyebrow raise doesn't it?

It's cold again today, but not as cold as the weather people are suggesting it might be in a week's time.  With the cold weather due to be coming from the Arctic at that stage, rather than Scandinavia as at present, it is likely to be the North and East of the country that receives the worst of it.  But there was a vague suggestion that if any moist wet Atlantic airflows encroached on the South West we might just get some snow .... it seems unlikely but you never know :-)
