Marsh Marigold
Caltha Palustris - There are some fantastic blooms of 'King Cups' in the park at the moment especially in the wet woodlands. A member of the Ranunculaceae family they go by a number of collocquial names water blobs, molly blobs, water bubbles and local to Lancashire 'the publican' (Flora Britannica). It's also mentioned in Shakespeare's - Cymbeline.
All parts of the plant are poisonous and handling can cause irritation to sensititive skin.
Great cheery plant for a dull day.
