Learning how to play the recorder

I promised myself that when I had time, I'd learn how to play the recorder. I did have a recorder as a child, but didn't progress very far with it, so it's something I've been planning to do - easier than a piano anyway! I have a book I'm following, which includes a CD so I can hear what the tunes are supposed to sound like, so it's the self-taught method. I'm trying to practice every day, and each day means going over what I've done and trying to remember finger positions for a new note. I'm now up to F#. Trouble is, my playing doesn't sound quite the same as the CD and I'm finding it difficult to match the rhythm....Not to worry, I'll get there, and it's great fun making music!
