Squirrel Woods

This morning we went on a big, long walk which included going through 'Squirrel Woods'. Squirrel Woods isn't a real name. (We don't know what the woods are really called, possibly Greenbank Woods? Who knows?!!) It's a name that Ann has made up because it's like the whole of the Edinburgh squirrel population seem to play there.

OMG!!! You wouldn't believe how many squirrels I saw today. Ann started counting them for me but once she'd counted 20, she gave up. Sometimes I had to chase 5 at once. There were zillions out playing this morning. And do you know what?......................... I didn't catch one single squirrel. Every time I almost caught one, it went up a tree, and then it just sat there staring at me. It was very, very frustrating!!! It wore me out though.

And in other news........................ Ann says we have to record this for our own info...........................

Last night Ann went on her staff Christmas night out and at about 9.20pm she got a message from visitors who were checking into our St Ives home to say that they couldn't open the lock box to get the key out. Well Ann knew that there wasn't a problem with the lock box because we have the bestest housekeeper in the world and she always checks that the previous visitors have left the key back in the lock box. Anyway after about half an hour of messages going back and forward, Ann phoned her housekeeper, who very kindly sent her husband to check what the problem was................. NO visitors at our home so he lined up all the numbers on the lock box in the correct position so that all they had to do was open it when they returned. Meanwhile the guests had gone off to one of the pubs in town.

And then at about 10.30pm .............. they sent a message saying they were in the house but were confused because the house didn't look like the photos on our website. Mmmmmm................... my human was getting a bit confused by now because she was on the way home from her staff Christmas night out and she'd had a few glasses of wine!!! She couldn't phone the visitors because they were from Germany and Ann's phone has restricted access to foreign nos., so she messaged them and asked them to phone her and send her photos of where they were.

Long story short. They'd arrived by train so didn't have a car. Ann thinks they'd just put her address into google maps and clicked onto the first address that was similar to hers and not bothered to read the very, very, detailed instructions that Ann sends to all visitors. Ie, we have a 12-space car park in front of our property (so even if you don't have a car you have to walk through the car park to get to our house). Our house is accessed by 26 outside steps and then it's at the end of an outside walkway. My human worked in a holiday letting agents for 10 years so she knows how stupid holiday makers can be. Most of them leave their brains behind when they come on holiday. Ann honestly doesn't think that she could have given her visitors any more information. BUT, if they don't read it, what can she do?????

The photos that the visitors sent Ann were NOT of our house. Somehow, they'd managed to get into someone else's house????? …..........That is scary!!! We try to change our key box code regularly, BUT if our visitors managed to get into someone else's home, they must have had the same key code no. as us.................... Such a weird co-incidence?

Fast forward to 11.15pm and visitors messaged to say they were in our house, and it was much better than the one they'd first gone too. My human made them send photos just so that she was reassured they were actually in our house. They were. Phew!!!!  Here's hoping they don't have any more probs??!!

.............Bit of a stressful end to a lovely works Christmas night out. Lol!
