Alnmouth

I was off to meet a friend in Alnmouth today, travelling by train from Edinburgh.  I had a complete bus nightmare getting to Edinburgh as the bus I went for didn’t show up and then the next one was running late.  It all became very stressful and involved me running from Waterloo Place to my train.  I made it with four minutes to spare.  I haven’t run anywhere since before Covid, so was delighted I could run – I am sure the adrenaline helped – but once I was on the train I felt like I needed a lie down.  That was far too much stress to start my day.  The journey to Alnmouth is only an hour and passed very quickly, and my friend M drove into the station car park just as I got there.

We drove into the village, parked up, had a wee wander and stopped in a tea room for elevenses.

We had vaguely planned a walk, but had sat chatting  in the tea room rather too long.  We did go for a walk, which ended up not being the most exciting walk, and we didn’t go as far as we would have liked, as we had a late lunch booked for 2:30 in a nearby village.  We arrived a little late had a lovely lunch and were still chatting so much, that we just had time to get back to the station for me to catch my train home.  Our time together passed far too quickly.  We’ve half made plans for a couple of meet ups in the New Year.

TT met me at the station in Edinburgh.  We popped to M&S to pick up some things for tea as neither of us could be bothered cooking and knew that BB wouldn’t have even thought about cooking, then caught the bus home.  I sorted tea while TT had a zoom call with his Friday night cronies.  BB was starving of course and seems to have survived the day on digestive biscuits!

I watched an episode of the Crown, then a bit of Graham Norton and then fell into my bed.

It was very dreary weather today.  This is a view looking over to Alnmouth from our walk, the coloured houses brighten up the scene.
