Murder Mystery Dinner
We decided to treat ourselves to a murder mystery dinner and a night in a castle so today we set off for Appleby in Westmorland. Mr D decided to take the scenic route, which made life interesting… mostly the.chosen route was ok, and it was definitely low on other traffic, but it was occasionally low on tarmac too :-) - some of the roads had grass growing down the middle!
We eventually got to Appleby and struggled to find the Castle. It was a surprise when Me D decided to ask someone how to find it! We arrive at a building where there was no sign of it being a venue and again found someone to ask for directions. Surprisingly we had arrived. We survived the journey to reception, the steps down to the entrance were not lit, apparently there is a problem with the wiring. A bit hairy with poor vision. Having got inside, things started to improve. We had a warm greeting from the owner and got to our room. We had a four poster bed, and lots of period tapestries and furniture. Sadly, but not really surprising in a castle, it wasn’t very warm so I decided to stay warmly dressed rather than put on my posh frock! We also sat in front of the fire in the main Hall, which helped as well :-). There were some people sat in their coats. That having been said, the entertainment was great, the food was tasty and the people participating in the evening all joined in the questioning so overall it was a good evening. Mr D was very pleased with himself as he correctly guessed the murderer. My blip is the cast lined up waiting for the denouement and a few of the guests.
Fortunately the bedroom was warmer than the hall so we slept well … to be continued…
Today’s tea…. Superfruit Not so super for me as it contained hibiscus which I think makes it taste bitter.
