Beach wood

Today was chilly but invigorating, dry and calm and perfect for a long-ish Sunday walk. There is a lovely circular route of about 6 miles between Emsworth and Langstone Harbours. When it is low tide one can do this walk all along the rocky beach, looking out towards Hayling Island over the muddy flats and Portsmouth in the far distance. There are several derelict jetties along the beach, testament to when there was a flourishing fishing trade in these waters. I rather liked this still standing piece of jetty wood, covered in a carpet of green sea life, with the other remants just behind it poking up their rough brown heads.

The village was busy today as small businesses stayed open until 4pm in the hope of attracting Christmas shoppers. Wishing you a happy stress-free week. Thanks Marlieske.
