Black Mill

A trip across the Yorkshire Wolds to Beverley. We were orienteering on Beverley Westwood today which is an area of common land on the edge of Beverley. Originally it had a number of corn mills but Black Mill is a lone survivor. It used to be whitewashed but was tarred and has remained so ever since. It was damaged by fire in 1868 and its working parts removed. It was inhabited but now remains as a landmark.

The weather although showery held off until we were travelling home. An enjoyable if rather muddy event. I think our shoes weighed twice as much as when we started!

Hoping England can hold on to their three goal lead. Multitasking writing some Christmas cards as I watch.
