A new beginning
Dublin Shooter is back!
My Lumix G3 proved to be too bulky for day-to-day use. Despite realising this several months ago, it's taken until now to replace it, which I finally did yesterday. The new camera is the Fujifilm X 20. Very retro, it is, especially in the silver version which I opted for. Now I've no excuse. This is compact, about the same size as the Canon G9 I had for such a while, and it won't be anywhere near as intrusive as the Lumix proved to be.
It wasn't until after lunch today that I took the new camera out to play. We went to a few of my favourite Blip haunts (Dollymount, St Anne's Park, Howth Castle, Howth harbour). I've uploaded a selection of what I came back with. The one I chose as my returning blip is a shot of a harbour-side bollard in Howth.
Things aren't going as well as I'd wish on the health front. Recovery is proving slow after the hip op, and I'm still walking with a nasty limp (the pregnant penguin look). I haven't been as good as I should when it comes to doing the exercises the physiotherapist gave me to do, but I don't think that's the root cause. The affected leg has suffered pretty severe muscle degradation, and I feel I need an exercise regime which involves working against something other than gravity (a specialised programme in a health club is what I'm thinking of, but I don't know if it's possible to go just for leg exercises and nothing else). We shall see.
