More Medieval Marvels
Our hike was canceled today due to rain, so we spent the day in Chambéry gift shopping sight-seeing and showing Nancy around our old stomping grounds. We had lunch in O'Cardinals, one of the bars frequented by students from the university, and then cappuccinos at Café Folliet Boutique. Then we wandered all over the historic Old Town, wandering through the narrow alleys, pointed out Jean Jaques Rousseau's home, and went through many shops. By that time it still hadn't rained on us, so we wandered up around the chateau where the old Duke's of Savoy used to live (as Chambéry was the capital of the Kingdom of Savoy!). This is one of several gated entrances to the chateau, although I think this one's the prettiest. Then we went up to the university and back down into the city in time to catch our train home. Soup for dinner.
