Oh deer!

Yes we have suspected it for some time and this evening while walking in Mine Woods just across the road I saw one.
The deer are back.

A couple of delicate shrubs have been stripped of all their new growth, which made us suspicious. Surely not caterpillars?

For nearly three years we have been deer free. To this day we don't know how or why though one winter lone rifle shots were heard.
We gardeners were delighted and didn't like to question too closely their disappearance, after all some people loved them and its easy to see why: these dainty Bambi like creatures added colour to the local landscape.
But if you garden the deer are a disaster on four legs.
