Ar-oooo

A group of Eider (Somateria mollissima) in Salen caught my Blipfoto eye.

I stopped and was astonished by the noise the males were making. Their cooing was quite eerie as the sound carried across the water - 'ar-oooo!'

The female looks like the 'queen of the castle,' but I'm not certain how impressed she was by all the displaying.
