Bridge over calm water...
Backblip
The last day of our holiday has come around far too quickly.
We decided that we would focus on finding a good pub to have a decent lunch to save us cooking this evening. We'd driven past The Northumberland Arms in Felton a couple of times and really liked the look of it, so decided to go there. We were not disappointed.
The conservatory was fully booked so we were given a table in the bar, right next to the fire. Lovely and cosy. The staff were very friendly and the menu sooooo good we struggled to choose, but choose we did and we were all very happy with our choices.
We chatted about our week and our previous weeks away in Nov/Dec over the last few years. So many good times been had. Thoughts also turned to next year as we agreed that top of our agenda in the new year would be discussions around where we might go (Scottish Borders is top of the list at the moment)
When we left the pub we went for a wander over the bridge that spans the River Coquet. There's a lovely row of terraced houses on the other side and we had admired them earlier. Adrian wandered down the street to have a closer look at them and David, Agnes and I were breathless laughing at him as with his hat pulled low over his head and his black gloves, he looked like he was casing the joint! Kept waiting for a member of the Neighbourhood watch to pounce on him! hahahahaha....
After a short drive in the countryside we headed back to Longframlington. Agnes and Adrian stopped at The Running Fox and bought some huge fruit and cheese scones that we had for supper. Delicious.
Once back at the cottage we decided to get packed so we could relax for the rest of the evening. It always amazes me how easy and fast packing to come home is!
Enjoyed our final evening together watching Strictly, chatting and raising a glass or two to toast another great week away. It's been fab :-)
