Europe’s largest . . .

I love little independent bookshops, but I also love Waterstones, Piccadilly. It’s Europe’s largest bookshop with apparently 8 miles of bookshelves. Our family are buying each other books for Christmas so what a great excuse to spend this morning here.

Starting on Floor 5 with a coffee and a view over the rooftops, one can then work one’s way down, but each floor is huge, the displays are enticing and there are comfortable leather sofas scattered around. The number of books is mind-blowing and the range is immense.

Hours went by and I was still on Floor 3.

Then we had to go for the train, but books have been bought and we have ideas for others.

This trip was mainly to use an overnight hotel booking made months ago which had to be cancelled. I couldn’t get my money back for the hotel, just kept moving the date, which I did several times, but eventually we made the trip.

A brief visit, but oh how I love London!
