New Process
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a sort of video workshop....a British artist, Kasia Clarke does these fabulous large abstract pieces and one of the processes she uses is incorporating her own handmade collage paper.
I got the materials i needed, one of which was wet strength tissue paper, very important piece of the process. So with some excitement i started the process, which involves wetting the tissue paper, creating a pattern with the wet paper, adding acrylic inks and then waiting for them to dry - and Ta Da...you get these wonderful pieces of paper. Well, when i tried to move the wet tissue paper into patterns it just fell apart! On further investigation the tissue paper recommended wasn't in fact wet strength! so not to be outdone, i tried using some of the papers i have in the studio....it sort of works but not really! This image is from me using sumi paper, lovely paper but i don't think it'll have the transparency that the tissue paper offers.
So now i have to wait for the new paper to arrive...in about a week!
In other news, it's been a weird kinda few days....trying to catch up on some of the 'home' stuff....like vacuuming...boy do i dislike that chore....but i'm working towards getting things uncluttered in my office studio and then i'll head over to the pottery to get things in order there. Then.....i will be able to start exploring with paint again.
It's an interesting transition that needs to take place....feels a bit like i'm fuelling up for the oncoming period of time i get to just concentrate on being introspective and creative.
Still feel a bit tired and not terribly energetic....but i know this phase and it will come to it's conclusion when it is time.
My little grandson Brighson turned 2 yesterday....so crazy to think that it was 2 years ago we were all together awaiting his arrival. Time is strange.
