Brittney Griner Is On Her Way Home!
Wonderful news today. After ten months in Russian jails for the “crime” of possessing a few vape cartridges with a small quantity of cannabis oil, for which she had been sentenced to serve nearly a decade in Russian jails, Brittney Griner is coming home. Her wife Cherelle has fought forcefully for Brittney's release and has kept Brittney's case visible while the media moved on.
The shop in this photo is called Cannabliss. It’s one of over four hundred marijuana shops and dispensaries in Portland. It sells vape pens and cartridges as well as many varieties of marijuana, edibles, and paraphernalia. The plywood on the window is an attempt at theft-prevention, as pot shops are robbed frequently.
Many Americans are still jailed on marijuana charges, even though in 21 States and the District of Columbia, the plant is legal for both medical and recreational use. There is plenty of work to do, to free those prisoners as well. But I’m taking today to celebrate the release of the two-time Olympic medal winner.
I’m also adding a tag for Arachne’s Advent Calendar. If you opened this door, you would not be surprised to find what lies behind it.
