It’s our Japanese visitors that are inspired by Peter Rabbit. Their children have been enjoying the story since it was translated into Japanese forty years ago. Bowness is the place to go if you want to stock up on Peter Rabbit mementos - key rings to cuddly toys.
You might think this giant rabbit is just a shop display but I once saw a young girl on Oxenholme station clutching one in her arms!
