Putting the gladioli to bed

Although some people lift their gladioli in autumn and store them like dahlias, I'm going with Sarah Raven and leaving them in the ground but giving them a thick blanket of wood chip. So this lunchtime, I managed to weed around them and then distribute 2 wheelbarrow loads from the communal woodchip pile. I hope that is enough to keep them safe through this cold spell.
