Back in Moscow and the traffic does not improve

On my first day out on the bike this year, cycling my normal route round Sheremetyevo airport, I crossed the Leningrad highway (which goes to St Petersburg) to see one of the very common traffic jams. They get worse and worse as Russia threatens to overtake Germany as Europe's largest car market.

Notice the cars on the right, which have taken the slipway off the road in order to overtake a few cars and are trying to barge their way back in again. It always surprises me how readily Russian drivers will allow these people to push in in front of them.
