E for Ella
This is my grandmother’s old trunk. It’s been hiding away at our sister’s place and I bought it back when I visited her last week. It was full of musty old bits and pieces including baby clothes and Mum’s wedding dress. I have little experience doing anything up but decided to use some linseed oil on the wooden parts and leather restorer on the end bits. Some dripped on the main frame and looked ok so I continued using it. It’s a Globite brand which is the same as our old school cases. The fittings are brass.
After I had enough of that project I decided to continue cleaning the back garden flower beds. I did heaps and am now feeling quite tired after the effort and bending. They are easier to manage than the front garden as I have improved the soil and have most of the plants in the right places. I also did some watering as it hasn’t rained a lot lately and the summer arrived (30°).
Luna helped me and got soaking wet again, she is a happy and loving dog and was thrilled when our son Bryan arrived to take her home.
It’s birthday week in our family. 5 in 6 days.
Ella’s surname was Allen in case you were wondering. She and our Grandad had 5 daughters so there are no Allens left related to us.
