Carnival!

I needed a change from the chill today so this is a backblip from a brilliant exhibition I went to last week at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge.
It’s called Paint Like the Swallow Sings Calypso and features the carnival inspired work of Paul Dash, Errol Lloyd and John Lyons, British-based Caribbean painters who have been at the forefront of Black British art, notably as part of Caribbean Artists Movement, CAM.

I completely fell for Paul Dash’s mysterious paintings, Errol Llloyd’s bright but somehow delicate watercolours, and John Lyons’ beautiful bright book illustrations. It was hard to choose just one for my blip but this is the first one that caught my eye so here it is.
