Another familiar view but with different weather

Final lunch of the holiday at the Doca do Cavacas, the beautiful blue and white restaurant perched by the rocks on the way down to the Caves (now shut).

I’ve seen waves and wind there before, but today was much more extreme. Just before we made our exit after stunning food, there was an almighty wave which crashed over the steps. Torrents of water headed down, flooding the entrance to the indoor part of the restaurant. 

Before we ventured out, I put my camera inside a polythene bag inside my backpack and we checked carefully before hastening up the steps to a relatively safer place.

It’s a beautiful coastline and the high winds pummelling Funchal and this coastline are seriously dramatic. 

We’re due to fly home tomorrow……..  ???
