Tinsel Trio

Another bitterly cold day outside and also, for a couple of hours, inside the house as well. I discovered at 6.30 am that the boiler had once more cut out shortly after start up, despite the excellent job our son did yesterday of lagging the long condensate pipe which leads to the outside drain. 

I decided to use a hairdryer to try and clear the ice blockage, but had to ring #2 son to ask for the return of our extension cable that he'd borrowed. He arrived within half an hour and we blew hot air down on to the very end of the pipe where it turns down into the drain, which hadn’t been lagged yesterday because it was in such an awkward place. The ice thawed in seconds, and the boiler fired up immediately. 

Our knight in shining armour then did a good job of lagging that last difficult piece of pipe and sealing it with plumber’s tape. Let’s hope that does the trick.
