They're up!
Christmas decorations went up this afternoon. This little arrangement tops the hall mirror. We've a big tree in the sitting room, a small tree in the dining area, and - as well as my knitted tree - a fibre-optic tree (enjoying its 18th Christmas) in the small and cosy lounge. Bits and pieces on the odd window sill, but this is the first year without a mantelpiece. Rather strange!
Only two Christmas cards so far. What with strikes, I think many people aren't bothering. Trouble is, they may make this the year they don't bother, and next Christmas, strikes or not, they'll probably continue not to bother. This could be the end of Christmas card exchanges that only began in the Victorian age (unless I'm mistaken).
Freezing fog all day. I've only been out of the house to feed and water the birds. It's no surprise that ornamental birds feature in our decorations. Can't get enough of them! :-)
