Sunday: Goldfinch

Temperature around 0°C for most of the day, but warm enough this afternoon for MrD to go for a walk down to the beach and back the long way.
Whilst I was making a coffee this morning I noticed movement at the edge of the garden - the goldfinch were eating evening primrose seeds, haven’t seen this happening before! For many years the goldfinch have eaten teasel seeds and Inula seeds, I was reading only yesterday that they are fond of mint and lemon balm seeds too but their liking of evening primrose is very positive as the plants are still flowering - I grow them for the moths which are food for the local bats and goldfinch is just a brilliant bonus :-))
Apologies for the poor quality photo, goldfinch are very nervous and rightly so and taking photos through glass is far from ideal … I’ve cropped the photo so they are at the centre.
